Miltona's History
Miltona got its name from a nearby lake called Lake Miltona. A post office opened here in 1873.
On July 18, 1970, a strong tornado hit Miltona. It damaged or destroyed 11 homes and 15 businesses. Several farms were also affected. The tornado left a path of damage about three miles long.

The city of Miltona covers an area of about 0.67 square miles (1.74 square kilometers). All of this area is land. There is no water within the city limits.
Two important roads in Miltona are Minnesota State Highway 29 and County Highway 14. These roads help people travel in and out of the community.
