History of Minden
Minden has had its own post office since 1875. This means people could send and receive mail there for a very long time!
Tornadoes in Minden
Minden has faced powerful storms. On April 26, 2024, a very large and strong tornado hit the city. It was part of a bigger storm system that affected many areas. Sadly, one person died and four others were hurt. Many homes were destroyed or badly damaged.
This wasn't the first time Minden was hit by a strong tornado. Forty-eight years earlier, in 1976, another very destructive tornado also ripped through the town.
