The Minguy River is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It's like a smaller stream that flows into a bigger river called the rivière du Sud (Montmagny). This bigger river then empties into the mighty St. Lawrence River. The Minguy River is located in the town of Montmagny. This area is part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region in Quebec.
About the Minguy River
The Minguy River is a branch of the rivière du Sud (Montmagny). It joins the bigger river from its southeast side. The Rivière du Sud then flows northeast until it reaches the south bank of the St. Lawrence River.
The Minguy River flows entirely within the town of Montmagny. This town is part of the Montmagny Regional County Municipality. This whole area is in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada.
Where the River Flows
The Minguy River starts in the eastern part of Montmagny. It begins close to the border of another town called Cap-Saint-Ignace.
From its start, the Minguy River travels about 23.1 kilometres (14.4 mi) (about 14.3 miles). As it flows, it drops about 311 metres (1,020 ft) (over 1,000 feet) in height. This drop happens in several sections:
- It flows west for 6.2 kilometres (3.9 mi) (about 3.8 miles) in Montmagny. This part goes up to Route 283.
- Then, it turns northwest for 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) (about 2.2 miles) until it reaches the Trans-Comté road.
- Next, it flows southeast for 5.0 kilometres (3.1 mi) (about 3.1 miles) to another road in Montmagny.
- After that, it goes southwest for 5.3 kilometres (3.3 mi) (about 3.3 miles) to another road.
- It then flows north for 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) (about 1.5 miles) to a road.
- Finally, it travels northwest for 0.7 kilometres (0.43 mi) (about 0.4 miles) until it meets the Rivière du Sud.
The Minguy River joins the south bank of the rivière du Sud (Montmagny). This meeting point is located before the Highway 20 bridge. It's also after where the Miscou stream joins and after the rue Principale bridge.
