Minillas is an important part of the larger Bayamón area. Bayamón is one of the biggest cities in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is an island in the Caribbean Sea. It is a commonwealth of the United States. This means it is connected to the U.S. but has its own government.

Minillas has an interesting history. It became part of the United States after a big event. This event was the Spanish–American War in 1898.
