What Does the Name Minnehaha Mean?
Minnehaha got its name in 1891 from a newspaper called The Columbian. An editor wrote about a local creek and called it "Minnehaha, laughing water." This name came from a famous poem, "The Song of Hiawatha" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
