Mirabales is a small community, also known as a barrio, located in the municipality of San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 672 people lived there. It's a quiet place within the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

A Glimpse into Mirabales' Past

Puerto Rico used to be a territory of Spain. After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened under an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.

In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 404 people lived in Mirabales barrio at that time.

In Puerto Rico, a barrio is like a neighborhood or a small district. These barrios are then divided into even smaller areas. These smaller areas are called sectores (which means sectors in English).
