Miraflores, California facts for kids
Miraflores used to be a small town that wasn't officially part of a city. Now, it's a neighborhood within the big city of Anaheim. Anaheim is located in Orange County, in the sunny state of California. Miraflores is about 150 feet (or 45 meters) above the ocean's level.
History of Miraflores
The name Miraflores comes from the Spanish language. It means "behold the flowers" or "look at the flowers." This name suggests the area might have once been very beautiful with many flowers.
In the past, Miraflores was a small community. It even had its own post office! Today, it is an important spot for trains. It has a major junction for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railway. A railway junction is where different train tracks meet or cross.
What Miraflores is Like Today
The Miraflores area is mostly used for businesses. You can find many large buildings called industrial warehouses there. These warehouses are often located close to the railway tracks.
Miraflores is also near some very famous places. To the east, you can find the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center. This is a big station where people can catch trains and buses. Also nearby are Angel Stadium, where the Angels baseball team plays, and the Honda Center, a large arena for concerts and sports.
To the west of Miraflores, you'll find Disneyland. This famous theme park is part of the larger Resorts District. This area attracts many visitors from all over the world.
