Miroslav Tuđman (born May 25, 1946 – died January 31, 2021) was a Croatian scientist and politician. He was the oldest child of Franjo Tuđman, who was the first President of Croatia. His mother was Ankica.

About Miroslav Tuđman
Miroslav Tuđman was born in Belgrade on May 25, 1946. This was also his parents' first wedding anniversary. He was named Miroslav after a famous writer, Miroslav Krleža. He finished elementary school in Belgrade. In 1961, his family moved to Zagreb, Croatia.
Education and Early Career
After high school, Miroslav Tuđman studied at the University of Zagreb. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in 1970. He later became a teacher at the university. In 1985, he earned his doctorate degree in information sciences. An information scientist studies how information is collected, stored, and used. In 1989, he started the Institute for Information Studies at his university.
Work During the War
In 1991, Miroslav Tuđman took part in the Croatian War of Independence. This was a war for Croatia's independence. In 1992, he became the head of the Center for Strategic Research. Later, he helped create and lead the first Croatian Intelligence Agency (HIS). This agency collects important information for the country's safety. He led HIS from 1993 to 1998, and again from 1999 to 2000. In 1995, he received an important award called the Order of Duke Domagoj. He got this award for his work during the war. In 1998, he became a full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy.
Political Journey
Miroslav Tuđman first got involved in politics in 1990. He helped start a small political party called the Social Democrats of Croatia (SDSH). However, he soon joined his father's party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). He was not very active in politics during the 1990s.
After his father passed away in 1999, his father's party lost an election in 2000. In 2001, Miroslav Tuđman ran for a seat in the Zagreb Assembly. He ran as an independent candidate, meaning he was not part of a specific party at that time. He received a good number of votes.
In the same year, he helped start another small political party called Croatian True Revival (HIP). This party worked with another group called Croatian Bloc. However, these parties did not get many votes in the 2003 election. In 2009, he ran for president of Croatia. He finished seventh in the first round of voting.
He later rejoined the HDZ party. In 2011, he won a seat in the Croatian Parliament. He continued to be a Member of Parliament in the elections of 2015, 2016, and 2020. He served as a Member of Parliament until his death.
Passing Away
Miroslav Tuđman died on January 31, 2021. He was in a hospital in Zagreb. He had been hospitalized a few days earlier because of problems from COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Croatia.
