Misako Uno's Journey to Stardom
Misako Uno grew up in a family where her father was a writer and her mother helped people in the community. From a young age, she dreamed of becoming a stage performer. This dream was inspired by seeing the musical Cats in London.
Early Life and Education
Misako had some tough times when she was younger. She described her primary school years as "dark" because she wasn't very good at sports like running or jumping. She had a delicate body and slow reflexes. This made her determined to build her confidence.
She spent 15 years at Shirayuri Gakuen, a school in Japan. When she was 8, she started writing essays and learning to dance there. At 11, she traveled to Germany for an International Summer Camp. She represented Japan's Ministry of Education.
At the camp, she found it hard to talk to other students because she didn't know German. This experience made her want to study English very hard. She decided she wanted to travel more. Later, during her eighth-grade summer break, she studied in London.
Starting Her Career
In her first year of high school, Misako tried out for "Avex Audition 2002." This was a big audition held by Avex Group, a major entertainment company. She came in second place out of thousands of people! After that, she signed with the Avex Artist Academy.
A year later, she started a dance club at her school, Shirayuri Gakuen. This club was the beginning of what would become the famous group AAA.
Acting Roles and Film Debut
Misako Uno made her acting debut in 2005 in a drama called SLOW DANCE. Her first main role was in the 2006 anti-war drama Bokura no te.
In the same year, she auditioned for Columbia Pictures. She passed and made her Hollywood debut in the 2006 horror film The Grudge 2. She played a Japanese student named Miyuki Nazawa.
In 2010, she had her first starring role in a Japanese comedy film called rendez-vous. She also appeared on NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen, a very famous music show in Japan.
In 2011, her early life experiences were even included in an English textbook for middle and high school students. The textbook was called Stepping stone Vol.7 Misako Uno.
Misako Uno's Personal Life
Misako Uno married Keiichiro Koyama from the band NEWS on March 12, 2024. They chose this date because it was also her beloved father's birthday. Her father had passed away in January 2023. The couple welcomed their first child on June 6, 2025.
