Edogawa (江戸川区, Edogawa-ku) is one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, Japan. It's like a big neighborhood or a smaller city within the huge city of Tokyo.
The local government calls itself "Edogawa City" in English. It is a busy and interesting part of Japan's capital.
Where is Edogawa?
Edogawa is located in the eastern part of Tokyo. It has a special border with Tokyo Bay to the south. This means it's close to the water!
To the west, Edogawa borders other parts of Tokyo. These are areas like Kōtō and Sumida. On its northwestern side, you'll find Katsushika.
To the east, Edogawa shares its borders with cities in Chiba Prefecture. These cities are Urayasu, Ichikawa, and Matsudo.
What's Special About Edogawa?
Edogawa is home to many people. In 2015, over 680,000 people lived there. It is known for its green spaces and parks. The area has a special tree, the Cinnamonum camphora, also known as the camphor tree. Its official flower is the beautiful Rhododendron.
The mayor of Edogawa is Masami Tada. He has been leading the city since May 1999.
