Mitchell County is a special area in New South Wales, Australia. It's one of 141 "cadastral divisions." Think of these as old-fashioned land divisions used for mapping and property records. This county includes the small town of Collingullie. The Murrumbidgee River, a big river in Australia, forms its northern edge.
The county got its name from a famous explorer and surveyor, Sir Thomas Livingstone Mitchell. He lived a long time ago, from 1792 to 1855.
What are Parishes?
Understanding Land Divisions
When Australia was first being settled, people needed ways to divide up the land. This helped with farming, selling property, and keeping records. A "parish" was one of these smaller land divisions.
Parishes in Mitchell County
Mitchell County is made up of many smaller areas called parishes. Each parish has its own name and helps define specific parts of the county. These divisions are still used today for official land records. They help local governments manage different areas.
