Mitra Farahani (born in 1975) is an Iranian filmmaker and painter. She currently lives in Paris, France.

About Mitra Farahani
Mitra Farahani was born on January 27, 1975, in Tehran, which was then part of Pahlavi Iran. She studied graphic art at Islamic Azad University in Tehran, finishing in 1997.
After her studies, she moved to Paris in 1998. In 2000, she continued her education at the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris.
Her film Tabous - Zohre & Manouchehr (made in 2004) explores her artistic journey.
In 2009, when she arrived in Tehran from Paris, she was held for a short time. She was released from prison on June 30, 2009.
Mitra Farahani has shown several of her films at the Berlin International Film Festival. In 2014, she was chosen to be a member of the jury for the 64th festival. She returned to the festival in 2022 with her documentary See You Friday, Robinson.

- Juste une femme (meaning Just a Woman) (2002): This was her first film about gender reassignment in Iran. Much of it was filmed using hidden cameras.

Mitra Farahani's film Juste une femme won a special award called the Teddy Award in 2002 at the Berlin International Film Festival, also known as the Berlinale.
Her film See You Friday, Robinson was shown for the first time in the Encounters section of the 2022 Berlinale. It also won an award at the New Horizons Film Festival in Wrocław, Poland.
