One of the most famous places in Modave is the Château des Comtes de Marchin, also known as Modave Castle. This beautiful castle is located very close to the main village of Modave. It is a very old and impressive building.

A very clever engineer named Rennequin Sualem worked at Modave Castle. He built something there that became a model for a much bigger invention. This invention was the famous Machine de Marly. The Machine de Marly was a huge machine that pumped water for the royal gardens in France. Rennequin Sualem's work at Modave helped him create this amazing water-pumping system.
