Mohamed Abdullaziz Al-Deayea Al-Shammari (his name in Arabic is مُحَمَّد عَبْد الْعَزِيز الدَّعْيَع الشَّمَّرِيّ; born on August 2, 1972) is a famous Saudi Arabian former football player. He was a fantastic goalkeeper. People also know him as Mohammed Deayea al-Shammari.

Mohamed played in four FIFA World Cups for the Saudi Arabia national team. He played in a huge number of international games, with 173 official matches. Al-Deayea played for two main clubs: al-Tai FC and al-Hilal SFC. He was part of all the Saudi national teams, from junior to senior. Many people think he is one of the best goalkeepers in Saudi sports history.

Mohamed's Early Life and Club Career

Mohamed al-Deayea was born in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia. He grew up in a family that loved sports. When he was eight years old, he started playing handball as a goalkeeper for al-Tai FC.

However, the junior football coach at his club suggested he try football instead. Mohamed listened and joined al-Tai SFC's junior football team in 1988. He was so good that he quickly joined the Saudi junior national team. With this team, he won the FIFA U-16 World Championship in Scotland in 1989. This was a huge win for him and his country!

He then moved up to the youth national team. By 1993, he was playing for the senior Saudi national team. Mohamed played a very important part in helping the national team get to the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States. He played incredibly well in that tournament.

In 1999, a big club called al-Hilal SFC bought him. This was a very important transfer. He played as their goalkeeper until he retired in 2010. This meant he had a football career that lasted 22 years! To celebrate his amazing career, a special match was held in 2012. It was between Italy's famous team, Juventus, and al-Hilal SFC.

Mohamed's professional career was split between Al-Ta'ee and Al-Hilal. At first, he was a handball player. But his club and his older brother, Abdullah, convinced him to become a professional football player. Mohamed felt a lot of pressure when he started. This was because his brother Abdullah was also a very famous goalkeeper who had won the AFC Asian Cup.

Mohamed's Retirement from Football

On June 22, 2010, Mohamed Al-Deayea announced that he was retiring from football. He was 37 years old at the time.

A special match was held for him on January 5, 2012. It was between his club, Al-Hilal, and the famous Italian team, Juventus. About 70,000 people came to watch the match at the King Fahd Stadium. Juventus won the game 7–1. Al-Hilal's only goal was scored by Saad Al-Harthi. Famous players like Alessandro Del Piero scored for Juventus.
