Club Career Highlights
Starting Out and Palermo
Simone Pepe was born in Albano Laziale, a town near Rome, Italy. He began his football journey at A.S. Roma. However, he never played an official game for Roma. Instead, he was loaned out to smaller teams like Calcio Lecco 1912 and Teramo Calcio to gain experience.
In 2003, a team called U.S. Città di Palermo signed Pepe. They were in Serie B, which is the second division of Italian football. Pepe helped Palermo get promoted to Serie A for the very first time. They won the Serie B championship that season.
Pepe was then loaned to Piacenza Calcio in 2004 to get more playing time. He returned to Palermo in 2005.
Time at Udinese and Cagliari
In 2006, Pepe joined Udinese Calcio. He didn't play much at first. So, he moved to Cagliari Calcio on a temporary deal in July 2006.
On November 18, 2006, Pepe scored his first goal in Serie A. It was the only goal in the game against his old team, Palermo. He helped Cagliari avoid being relegated to a lower league that season.
Returning to Udinese
In 2007, Udinese bought Pepe completely. He became a very important player for them. He played many games and scored goals, becoming a key part of their team.
Success with Juventus
On June 9, 2010, Pepe joined Juventus FC, one of Italy's biggest clubs. He first joined on a loan deal. He scored five goals in his first season with Juventus.
In the 2011–12 season, Pepe played very well on the right side of the field. He helped Juventus win the national championship after nine years. Fans liked him for his hard work and speed, calling him "Speedy Pepe".
Unfortunately, Pepe had many injuries starting in December 2012. He was out of action for almost two years. He worked hard to recover and slowly returned to playing. In 2014, he helped Juventus win their third championship in a row.
In 2015, he scored his first goal in three years. It was a penalty kick in a game against Napoli.
Later Career: Chievo and Pescara
On August 11, 2015, Pepe moved to A.C. ChievoVerona. He played 23 games for them. After that season, he left the club.
In August 2016, Pepe joined Delfino Pescara 1936. He played only a few games for them. At the age of 33, he decided to retire from playing football.
International Career

He was part of the Italian squads for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Both tournaments were held in South Africa. Italy did not go past the first stage in either competition.
Playing Style
Simone Pepe was a very flexible player. He could play in many different attacking and midfield positions. He usually played as a wide midfielder or attacking winger on the right side of the field. He could also play on the left side.
He was known for being fast, strong, and energetic. His main strengths were his stamina, his help in defense, and his ability to cross the ball. He also had good technique and was good at set pieces.
Match-fixing Investigation
During an investigation into Italian football in 2011–12, Simone Pepe was mentioned. He was accused of not reporting something about a match from 2010. However, he said he did nothing wrong. In August 2012, he was found innocent and cleared of all charges.
