Starting His Football Career
Mojtaba Jabbari began playing football at Rah Ahan. This was because his father worked for the Iranian Railways. His coach, Ahadi, later moved to the Esteghlal youth team. Jabbari went with him. To get more experience, he was loaned to Aboomoslem. He even helped Aboomoslem reach the final of the Hazfi Cup.
Playing for Esteghlal
After playing well at Aboomoslem, Jabbari returned to Esteghlal for the 2005–06 season. He helped his team win the championship that year.
In 2006, he got injured and couldn't play until the second half of the 2006–07 season. He made his comeback in a short game against Saipa. He became a key player for Esteghlal again in the 2007–08 season. He was very important in Esteghlal's Hazfi Cup win against Pegah. He scored and helped set up a goal in their 3–0 victory.
Jabbari also tried out for Grenoble Foot 38, a French team, but didn't sign with them. He faced some challenges with his club coach after an AFC Champions League game.
He started the 2009–10 season with another injury, missing most of the games. But in the 2010–11 season, he became a regular player. He scored a goal in the big Tehran derby game in September 2011 and was named the best player of that match. He won the Hazfi Cup for the second time that season. He also helped Esteghlal win the league title in the 2012–13 season.
Time with Sepahan
In July 2013, after some disagreements with Esteghlal's management, Jabbari left the club. He signed a one-year contract with Sepahan. However, after playing only five games, Sepahan's coach decided he could no longer train with the team.
Playing in Qatar for Al Ahli
On October 1, 2013, Jabbari joined Al Ahli in the Qatar Stars League on a loan. In January 2014, he made the move permanent, signing a two-year contract. He scored five goals and made six assists in 21 matches that season.
Jabbari scored the first two goals for Al Ahli in the 2014–15 season. He also helped set up two goals in their next game. In September 2014, he was named the August Player of the Month, becoming the first player to win this award in the Qatar Stars League. Al Ahli extended his contract until 2017.
Returning to Esteghlal

Jabbari returned to Esteghlal in July 2017 after four years away. However, he soon had issues with the club chairman. This led to him leaving the team after playing only four games in the Iran pro league. He announced he was retiring from football on July 10, 2018.
