Playing Career: A Football Journey
Starting Out in Football
Mojtaba Jabbari started playing football at a young age. His father worked for the Iranian railways, which led him to join the Rah Ahan club. His coach, Ahadi, later moved to the Esteghlal youth team and brought Jabbari with him. To gain more experience, Jabbari was loaned to Aboomoslem. He even helped Aboomoslem reach the final of the Hazfi Cup, a major football competition in Iran.
Becoming an Esteghlal Star
After playing well for Aboomoslem, Jabbari returned to Esteghlal in the 2005–06 season. He quickly became an important player and helped the team win the league championship that very season.
In 2006, Jabbari faced an injury, but he made a strong comeback in 2007. He was a key player when Esteghlal won the Hazfi Cup in 2008. In that final match, he scored a goal and helped set up another, leading Esteghlal to a 3–0 victory. He also scored Esteghlal's first goal in the 2008–09 season.
Jabbari had a trial with a French club, Grenoble Foot 38, but he did not sign with them. He continued to play for Esteghlal and became a regular player in the 2010–11 season. He scored a goal in the famous Tehran derby in September 2011 and was named the best player of that match. He won the Hazfi Cup again with Esteghlal that season. He also helped Esteghlal win another league title in the 2012–13 season.
Time with Sepahan and Al Ahli
In July 2013, Jabbari left Esteghlal and signed a one-year contract with Sepahan. However, his time there was short. After playing only five games, he was released by the coach.
Soon after, in October 2013, Jabbari moved to Qatar and joined Al Ahli on a loan. He later made this move permanent in January 2014. He played very well for Al Ahli, scoring goals and providing assists. In September 2014, he was even named the "Player of the Month" in the Qatar Stars League, becoming the first player to win this award. Al Ahli extended his contract until 2017 because of his great performance.
Returning Home and Retirement

In July 2017, Mojtaba Jabbari returned to his beloved club, Esteghlal, after four years away. However, after playing only four games, he had some disagreements with the club chairman. This led to his departure from the team. Mojtaba Jabbari officially announced his retirement from playing football on July 10, 2018.
Playing for His Country: Iran National Team
Mojtaba Jabbari was called up to the national team several times during his career. He also played for the Iran B team in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia. He made his official debut for the senior national team against Bosnia on February 2, 2005.
He was a strong contender to be a starter for Iran in the 2006 FIFA World Cup. However, he unfortunately got injured during training in Switzerland and missed the tournament. He scored three goals for the national team, all during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches in 2011. In April 2014, he decided to retire from playing for the national team.
