Where is the Molucca Sea?
The Molucca Sea is surrounded by several islands and other seas. To its south, it meets the Banda Sea. To the north, it borders the Celebes Sea.
Many islands are found around the Molucca Sea. These include Halmahera to the northeast and Sulawesi to the west. In the center, you can find the islands of Buru and Ceram. The Talaud Islands to the north mark the general edge of this sea.
The Molucca Sea Plate
Underneath the Molucca Sea is a special part of the Earth's crust called the Molucca Sea Plate. A tectonic plate is like a giant puzzle piece that makes up the Earth's outer layer. This plate is named after the sea and extends even further north.
