Momints was a special kind of breath mint made in America. It was created by a company called Yosha! Enterprises Corporation, led by Tony Shurman. The company started in the United States, in Westfield, New Jersey. Momints first came out in 2003. The company doesn't exist anymore, and the Momints brand name expired in 2010.

What Were Momints?

Momints were different from regular mints. They were small, shiny, clear balls that looked like tiny glass beads. Inside these little balls was a liquid mint solution. You would bite the soft outer shell, and the liquid would burst out. This made Momints one of the first liquid-filled mints ever!

The name "Momints" was a fun play on the word "moments." Their advertisements often used slogans like "take a Momint" or "enjoy the Momint."

A Brief History

Tony Shurman started Yosha! Enterprises after getting money from a big company sale. He wanted to make a new kind of mint. He first thought of Momints for people who smoked.

Momints quickly became popular. Other companies saw how well they were doing and started making similar liquid mints. For example, Hershey made "Ice Breakers Liquid Ice." Yosha! Enterprises wasn't happy about this. They even called Hershey a "Johnny-come-lately Goliath" for copying their idea.

In 2004, for Christmas, Yosha! had a clever marketing idea. They offered free Momints to mall Santas. The idea was to help Santas have fresh breath when talking to kids! This helped Momints sell more and made more people know about the brand.

By 2005, Momints were very successful. They were the best-selling mints at 7-Eleven stores and made about $15 million in sales each year. That same year, Yosha! also started selling Momints in Germany.

How Momints Were Packaged

Momints came in a few different types of packages.

The E-Z Slide Pack

Originally, Momints were sold in a clear plastic box. This box was designed to fit easily into a cigarette packet or a small watch pocket. The box had a special shape, with one end sloping down. It also had a hinged door that opened to let out one mint at a time through a chute. This was called the "E-Z Slide Pack." Each of these packs held 28 Momints.

Momints came in three flavors, each with a different color package:

Tube Packaging

By 2005, Momints also started being sold in clear tubes. These tubes held eight Momints each. There was also a larger "super tube" that contained 15 of these smaller eight-count tubes, offering a mix of all three flavors. These tubes were sold in big stores like Wal-Mart, 7-Eleven, and CVS.

The idea for the tube packaging came from tubes used for cosmetics, like makeup. Even though they first thought about using glass tubes, they ended up using plastic for the products sold in stores.
