Money Key is a small, private island located in the beautiful Florida Keys. It is part of Monroe County, Florida. You can find it in the Atlantic Ocean, nestled between Little Duck Key and Pigeon Key.
This tiny island is not connected by roads. It sits about 800 feet (240 meters) south of the famous Seven Mile Bridge, which is part of U.S. 1 (also known as the Overseas Highway).
What's in a Name?
Have you ever wondered how Money Key got its name? One story from a 1969 newspaper article says that the island was named because "pirate loot was found there." The exact amount of treasure was never shared, keeping it a fun mystery!

Money Key is a private island. It has been owned by the Kyle family since 1972. To protect the island and prevent unauthorized visits, "No Trespassing" signs were put up in 2013. This helps keep the island safe and private.
