Monica Hargrove's College Sports Journey

Monica grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. She started her track career at Georgetown University. There, she was named an All-American three times: in 2002, 2003, and 2004. This was for her strong performance in Georgetown's sprint medley relay team.

She competed for the Georgetown Hoyas in the Big East Conference. In 2002, her team won the outdoor 4 × 400-meter relay championship. The next year, in 2003, she won the indoor 500-meter race.

At the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships, she won a silver medal. She ran with Debbie Dunn, Tiffany Williams, and Mary Danner. This was her first major medal in international competition. Later that year, she helped set a world best time in the sprint medley relay. This happened at the Penn Relays with Rachelle Boone-Smith, Lauryn Williams, and Hazel Clark.

In 2007, Monica won the 400 m race at the Boston Indoor Games. She set her best indoor time of 52.85 seconds. She also finished fifth at the Reebok Grand Prix. In 2008, she competed in Europe. She placed third at the DN Galan and fourth at the London Grand Prix.

She also competed in many European athletics events. This included winning the 2009 DecaNation competition. She also finished second at the Athens Grand Prix. There, she set a new personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 50.39 seconds.
