Location and Roads
Moodlu is located about 55.3 kilometers (about 34 miles) north of Brisbane CBD, which is the main part of Brisbane city.
A major road called the D'Aguilar Highway goes through Moodlu from east to west. Another important road, the Caboolture Connection Road, starts here and goes south-east towards Caboolture. This road used to be part of the D'Aguilar Highway.
There are also plans for a new highway, the Bruce Highway Western Alternative, to pass through Moodlu from south to north in the future.
History of Moodlu
The name "Moodlu" comes from the local railway station. The word "Moodlu" is from the Kabi language, which is an Indigenous Australian language. It means "stone."
Post Office and School
Moodlu had a post office that opened on July 1, 1927. Before that, there was a smaller "receiving office" for mail that started in 1910. The post office eventually closed in 1953.
There was also a school called Wararba Provisional School, which opened around 1884. It later became Waraba State School in 1909 and then Moodlu State School in 1911. This school closed on July 4, 1947. Today, the land where the school used to be is now used by the Caboolture Pony Club.
