A moped

A moped is a small vehicle with two wheels and a motor. It's a bit like a motorcycle, but usually smaller and often has pedals, just like a bicycle. Mopeds are a fun way to get around!

What is a Moped?

Mopeds have small engines, usually around 49 cubic centimeters (cc). This is much smaller than most motorcycle engines. Because of their small size, mopeds usually can't go faster than 50 kilometers per hour (about 30 miles per hour).

Fuel and the Environment

Mopeds use less fuel than larger motorcycles, which can save you money. However, some people think that older mopeds might create more air pollution than newer motorcycles. Modern mopeds are designed to be more environmentally friendly.

Riding a Moped Safely

In most places, you need a special license to ride a motorcycle. But for a moped, you often only need an ordinary driver's license. It's usually the law to wear a helmet when you ride a moped to keep you safe.
