History of Moran, Kansas
Moran started as a community in 1881. It grew because of the railroads. Two important railroad lines were built through the area. These were the Saint Louis, Fort Scott, and Wichita Railroad and the Kansas City Pacific. Railroads were very important back then for moving goods and people. The town was first known as Morantown.
