Moravia is a small village in Cayuga County, New York, United States. It's located in the southern part of the town of Moravia. The village is south of the city of Auburn. About 1,200 people live here.

A copy of the cabin where President Millard Fillmore was born can be found in nearby Fillmore Glen State Park.

History of Moravia Village

The village of Moravia was built on land that was once part of the Central New York Military Tract. This area was also the site of an older native village.

Moravia village was started in 1789 by a veteran named John Stoyell. It was first called "Owasco Flats." The village officially became a village in 1837. It was re-established in 1859 when it grew larger.

The Powers Library, built in 1880, is very special. It is the oldest library in New York State that has been used continuously since it opened.

Many old houses and buildings in Moravia are important for their history. Dozens of these buildings, including homes, churches, and a cemetery, were built in the late 1800s. They are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are recognized as important historical sites. Moravia is located at coordinates 42°42′39″N 76°25′22″W / 42.71083°N 76.42278°W / 42.71083; -76.42278.

The village covers a total area of about 4.47 square kilometers (1.72 square miles). Most of this area, about 4.41 square kilometers (1.70 square miles), is land. A small part, about 0.06 square kilometers (0.02 square miles), is water.

Moravia is located south of Owasco Lake. The Owasco Inlet, which is a stream, flows right through the village.

Two important roads meet in Moravia village: New York State Route 38 and New York State Route 38A.
