History of Morrowville
Morrowville was started in 1884. It was planned out because a railroad, the Missouri and Burlington Railroad, was going to build tracks there. The city was named after its founder, James C. Morrow.
The first post office in Morrowville opened in 1884. For the first ten years, it was called Morrow Station. In 1894, its name changed to Morrowville.

Fun Places to Visit
- World's First Bulldozer: In 1923, a young farmer named James D. Cummings and a designer named John Earl McLeod created the plans for a bulldozer. A replica of their first bulldozer is on display at the city park. This is where they built their very first machine!

Before 2006, Morrowville and Haddam schools combined in 1967 to form USD #221. The high school was in Morrowville, and the grade school was in Haddam. This district was known as North Central. Later, in the mid-1970s, Mahaska grade school also joined USD 221. The mascot for North Central High School was the Cougars.
