About Mosambik Lake

Mosambik Lake is quite long, stretching about 5.9 kilometres (3.7 mi). It is also about 2.0 kilometres (1.2 mi) wide. The lake sits at an elevation of 347 metres (1,138 ft) above sea level. Imagine standing on its shore, looking out over the water!

Water Flow In and Out

The main river that flows into Mosambik Lake is the Magpie River. This river brings water from another lake called North Wejinabikun Lake, which is to the west. There are also smaller, unnamed streams that feed into Mosambik Lake. One of these streams comes from Kabiskagami Lake on the southwest side.

The Magpie River doesn't just flow in; it also flows out! It leaves Mosambik Lake from the north end. From there, the river continues its journey towards Esnagi Lake. Eventually, all this water makes its way into the mighty Lake Superior.
