Mosedale Beck is a stream located in Cumbria, a beautiful county in the northwest of England. This stream flows into Wast Water, which holds the record as the deepest lake in England. It's a key part of the stunning Lake District National Park.

The Journey of Mosedale Beck

Mosedale Beck begins its journey high up on Little Scoat Fell. From there, it flows towards the southwest. Along its path, it reaches the impressive Ritson's Force waterfall. After the waterfall, the stream changes direction and turns south.

It then winds its way through Wasdale Head, a small and quiet hamlet. The beck continues its flow through an area known as Down-in-the-Dale. Finally, Mosedale Beck empties its waters into Wast Water. It joins the lake close to another stream called Lingmell Beck.

Exploring the Mosedale Horseshoe

The Mosedale Horseshoe is a very famous mountain walk. It's a challenging but rewarding hike that circles around the Mosedale valley. This popular route starts at Wasdale Head.

The walk takes adventurers over several well-known mountains. These include Yewbarrow, Red Pike, Scoat Fell, and Pillar. It offers amazing views of the surrounding landscape.

What Are Tributaries?

A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger stream, river, or lake. Think of them as smaller branches joining a main river. Mosedale Beck has several tributaries that add water to its flow.

  • Gatherstone Beck
  • Black Beck
