Mosquito is a small area, called a barrio, located on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. In 2010, no one lived there, meaning its population was 0.
History of Mosquito
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the U.S.
In 1899, the U.S. government counted all the people in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that Mosquito and a nearby area called Llave had a total of 1,069 people living there.
