Early Days of Mother
When Mother first came out, it had a special recipe. It was made with natural ingredients because people wanted healthier drinks. However, many people didn't like the taste of this first version.
The original Mother drink had about 106 milligrams of caffeine in a 250 mL can. It also contained sugar, apple juice, lemon juice, and a little bit of guarana and ginseng.
Mother Gets a New Look and Taste
After about 18 months, Coca-Cola decided to change Mother. In June 2008, they announced a new and improved version. They worked hard to find a taste that people would really enjoy.
The new Mother drink came in a bigger 500 mL can. The packaging also changed from silver to black and red. The drink itself changed color from yellow to green. The new cans even said, "New - tastes nothing like the old one!" to show how different it was.
New Mother Flavors and Sizes
Since the big change, Mother has released many different flavors and sizes.
- In 2009, they launched Mother Surge, which was orange-flavored.
- They also introduced Mother in a glass bottle and smaller cans for bars and clubs.
- In 2010, a tiny 150 mL can called 'Mother Big Shot' came out. It had extra guarana and taurine.
- Later, they added Low Carb and Lemon Bite flavors.
- In 2012, a sugar-free version of Mother was released in a silver can.
- In 2017, Mother updated its logo and packaging again. They also added a new flavor called Kicked Apple.
