A Look Back in Time
Long ago, even before the American Revolution, there was a mill near Mount Airy. It was on the Alexauken Creek. By the year 1881, Mount Airy had grown quite a bit. It had its own school, a general store, and a church. There was also a shop where people fixed wagons and worked with metal. A grist-mill, which grinds grain, was also present. At that time, about 12 homes made up the community. Before 1881, there was even a hotel in Mount Airy.

Famous Old Buildings
- Old Mount Airy Tavern: This building was constructed in the late 1700s. It used to be a stop for stagecoaches traveling on the Old York Road. Imagine travelers resting there after a long journey! Today, it has been changed into a home.
- Holcombe's Storehouse: This is another old building from the late 1700s. It's made of stone and has two and a half stories. It even has an overhanging hoist, which was used to lift goods. Like the tavern, it is now a residence.
Mount Airy Presbyterian Church
The Second English Presbyterian Church of Amwell, also known as the Mount Airy Presbyterian Church, was built in 1874. It's designed in the Gothic Revival style, which means it looks like old European churches. The church itself was founded much earlier, in 1754. Next to the church is a cemetery that started in the mid-1700s. Many people from the community's past are buried there.
