The museum was started by Kerry M. Bogard. He and his wife moved to the area from Jupiter, Florida. Mr. Bogard wanted a place to keep and share his amazing collection. So, he created this museum for everyone to enjoy.

A Look Inside the Museum

The museum was home to many exciting exhibits. Visitors could see powerful American muscle cars. There were also lots of car-related treasures, known as automobile memorabilia. Plus, the museum had a collection of items from American history and culture.

Cool Cars and Collectibles

Inside, you could find many rare and interesting cars. But that wasn't all! The museum also displayed tiny quarter midget race cars. There were even fun pedal cars that kids used to "drive."

You could step back in time with a 1940s Texaco gas station display. Vintage road signs, old juke boxes, and classic Coca-Cola machines added to the retro feel. Old gas pumps and bright neon signs made the place extra special.

Racing Fun and Retro Finds

For music lovers, there were electric guitars signed by famous rock musicians. These included members of Aerosmith, Jon Bon Jovi, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The museum also featured signed television memorabilia. It was a true treasure chest of cool items!

Why Did the Museum Close?

The Mount Dora Museum of Speed closed its doors in November 2019. The founder, Kerry M. Bogard, decided to retire. Because of his retirement, all the exhibits were sold. The museum is no longer open today.
