Mount Eagle is a mountain located in County Kerry, Ireland. Its name in Irish is Sliabh an Iolair, which means "eagle mountain". It stands tall at 516 meters (about 1,693 feet) above sea level.
Mount Eagle's Location and Features
Mount Eagle is part of the Mountains of the Central Dingle Peninsula. A peninsula is a piece of land almost surrounded by water. This mountain is the 419th highest peak in all of Ireland.
It is found close to Slea Head (Ceann Sléibhe). Slea Head is the most south-westerly point of the Dingle Peninsula. Mount Eagle is connected to Mount Brandon by a ridge of smaller hills. At the very top of Mount Eagle, you will find a trig point. This is a special marker used by mapmakers to help create accurate maps.
A Historic View from the Sky
Mount Eagle holds a special place in history. In 1927, a famous pilot named Charles Lindbergh made the first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. After his long journey, the summit of Mount Eagle was the very first piece of European land he saw from his plane. It was a welcome sight after flying for many hours over the ocean!

You can reach the summit of Mount Eagle by taking a moderate walk. The path often starts from Ventry Harbour. It is a great way to explore the Irish countryside.
