Mount Goethe is a tall mountain peak located in Fresno County, California, in the United States. It stands at an amazing height of 13,270 feet (4,045 m)! This makes it one of the highest mountains in California, ranking as the 96th tallest summit in the entire state.
Why is it Called Mount Goethe?
Mount Goethe got its name from a very famous person: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. He was a brilliant German writer, poet, and scientist who lived a long time ago. One of his most well-known works is a play called Faust. It's pretty cool that a huge mountain was named after such an important figure in literature!
Who First Climbed Mount Goethe?
The very first time someone successfully climbed to the top of Mount Goethe was on July 6, 1933. Two adventurous climbers, David Brower and George Rockwood, were the first to reach its summit.
