Mount Hubley is a really tall mountain in Alaska, United States. It's the second highest peak in the Brooks Range, which is a huge mountain chain in the northern part of Alaska. This amazing mountain is found in the eastern part of the Brooks Range, in an area sometimes called the Romanzof Mountains.

This new information officially made Mount Hubley the second highest peak in the Brooks Range, right after Mount Isto. Mount Chamberlin is now ranked as the third highest.

Who Was Mount Hubley Named After?

Mount Hubley was named in 1958. It was named after a scientist named Dr. Richard Carleton Hubley. He was a coordinator for a big science project called the International Geophysical Year.

Sadly, Dr. Hubley passed away in 1957. He was doing important research on a nearby glacier called the McCall Glacier when it happened. Naming the mountain after him was a way to honor his work and his contributions to science.
