Mount Isolation is a mountain found in Coös County, New Hampshire. It is part of the famous Presidential Range within the White Mountains. This mountain is the tallest point on the Montalban Ridge, which stretches south from a place called Boott Spur.
What Makes Mount Isolation Special?
Mount Isolation is known for being quite far away from other places. Its name, "Isolation," really fits! It is one of the most remote peaks in the White Mountains.
This mountain is located inside the Presidential Range–Dry River Wilderness. A wilderness area is a special place where nature is protected. It means there are no roads or buildings, just forests and mountains.
Mount Isolation is one of the mountains called "Four-thousand footers" by the Appalachian Mountain Club. To be a "Four-thousand footer," a mountain must be at least 4,000 feet (about 1,219 meters) tall. Mount Isolation is 4,003 feet high!
It also needs to have a certain amount of "prominence." Prominence means how much a mountain rises above the land around it. Mount Isolation has enough prominence to be on this special list.
