Mount King George is a tall mountain found in Kluane National Park. This park is located in the Yukon area of Canada. It stands as one of the impressive peaks in the Saint Elias Mountains.

Discovering Mount King George

Mount King George reaches a height of 3,741 meters (about 12,274 feet). This makes it one of the higher mountains in the Yukon. It is part of the large Saint Elias Mountains range.

How Mount King George Got Its Name

The mountain was given its name in 1935. It was named to honor King George V and Queen Mary. This happened during their "silver jubilee." A silver jubilee celebrates 25 years of a king or queen's rule. A nearby mountain, Mount Queen Mary, was also named at the same time.

Exploring the Mountain

The first time people officially climbed Mount King George was in 1966. Later, in 1996, another group of explorers went on an expedition there. They studied the mountain and shared what they found.
