About Mount Ord
Mount Ord is a special place because the line between Maricopa County, Arizona and Gila County, Arizona goes right across its top. This means the mountain is in two counties at once!
The mountain was named after a famous person. His name was Edward Ord, and he was a Major General in the military. Sometimes, people might confuse Mount Ord with another peak called Mount Baldy in Apache County, Arizona. But they are two different mountains.

The very top of Mount Ord has several communications towers. These towers help with things like radio and cell phone signals.
Mount Ord is also a fantastic spot for people who love to watch birds. Its unique shape and natural environment attract many different kinds of warbler birds. Warblers are small, colorful songbirds.
You can find all the types of mountain warblers that live in Arizona right here. These include the Virginia's, Black-throated Gray, Grace's, Olive, and Painted Redstart warblers. Mount Ord is the only place in central Arizona where you can see all these special birds together.
