Mount Tibrogargan is a well-known hill located in the Glass House Mountains National Park. You can find it north-northwest of Brisbane, Australia. This mountain is actually a giant rock plug, called a volcanic plug, made of hard rock called alkali rhyolite. It formed inside an ancient volcano about 27 million years ago.
Tibrogargan is easy to spot in South East Queensland. Many people think it looks like a woman holding a baby and looking over her shoulder. However, in 2004, some parts of the rock that looked like eyes wore away and fell off. The name Tibrogargan comes from local Aboriginal words. Chibur means 'flying squirrel' and kaiyathin means 'biting'.

Aboriginal Story of Mount Tibrogargan
In the stories of this area, Tibrogargan was the father of all the other Glass House Mountains. His wife was Beerwah.
One day, Tibrogargan saw the ocean waters rising. He quickly told his son Coonowrin to take his mother, Beerwah, to a safe place. But Coonowrin, also known as Crookneck, did not obey. He failed to protect his mother.
Tibrogargan became very angry. He hit Coonowrin and broke his neck. Because of this, Tibrogargan is said to have turned his back on Coonowrin forever.
