Mr. Nanny is a funny American family movie from 1993. It stars the famous professional wrestler Hulk Hogan. The movie was first called Rough Stuff.
The Story of Mr. Nanny
Meet the Characters
Sean Armstrong (Hulk Hogan) is a former wrestler. He lives in Palm Beach, Florida. Sean sometimes has bad dreams about his wrestling days.
Sean's friend, Burt Wilson (Sherman Hemsley), has a bad leg. Burt got hurt saving Sean's life. Burt also has money problems with his security business. He convinces Sean to take a new job.
The job is to be a bodyguard for Alex Mason Sr. (Austin Pendleton). Alex Sr. is the boss of a big tech company. His company is making a new anti-missile system. It's called the Peacefinder Project. A very important microchip holds all the project's secrets.
But Sean's job is not to guard the chip or Alex Sr. Instead, he has to look after Alex Sr.'s two children. Their names are Alex Jr. (Robert Gorman) and Kate (Madeline Zima).
The Pranksters
Alex and Kate are very mischievous kids. They often play tricks on people. They do this to get their busy father's attention. Their favorite targets are the nannies he hires. Alex Sr. is a widower, so he needs help with the kids.
Sean sees the last nanny jump into a fountain. Her hair was on fire from a prank! But their dad is often too busy or too soft on them. So, the kids keep playing their tricks.
They think Sean is just another new nanny. They decide he will be their next target. They even fill a swimming pool with red dye. They call it "the Pit of Blood."
But Sean is different. After this big prank, he finally takes charge. He calms Alex and Kate down. He also helps their father see his family problems. Sean starts to bond with the kids. He helps them with their own issues too.
The Villain's Plan
However, real trouble is just beginning. A bad guy named Tommy Thanatos (David Johansen) wants Alex Sr.'s special chip. He will do anything to get it.
Sean and Burt know Thanatos from the past. He once told them to lose a wrestling match on purpose. When they refused, he tried to shoot them. Burt jumped in front of Sean and took the bullet in his leg. Sean chased Thanatos to the stadium roof. After a big fight, Thanatos fell into an empty pool. This accident hurt his head. He now has a metal plate in his skull.
Thanatos kidnaps Alex Sr. He gets help from Frank Olsen (Raymond O'Connor). Frank is the corrupt security chief at Mason Systems. Thanatos demands the chip from Alex Sr.
Alex Sr. hid the chip in Kate's doll. He refuses to give it up. So, Thanatos has Alex and Kate kidnapped. He wants to force their father to give him the chip. Sean tries his best, but he is overpowered. Burt is also captured, which makes Thanatos happy.
But Sean manages to find Thanatos. With help from his friends, Sean defeats the bad guys. As Thanatos gets ready to attack Sean, Alex Sr. and the kids use a homemade electromagnet. It launches Thanatos into the sky! Only his metal skullplate is left behind.
The movie ends with Sean getting ready to leave the Masons. But Alex and Kate want him back soon. So, Sean falls victim to another one of their pranks!
