Muhamed Bešić (born on September 10, 1992) is a professional footballer. He plays as a defensive midfielder for Serbian SuperLiga club Spartak Subotica. Muhamed was born in Germany. He also played for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Bešić started his career at Hamburger SV in Germany. He then moved to Ferencváros in Hungary in 2012. Two years later, he joined Everton in England. While at Everton, he played on loan for Middlesbrough and Sheffield United. He returned to Ferencváros in 2021. In 2025, he signed with Spartak Subotica.
Muhamed Bešić played for Bosnia and Herzegovina's youth teams. He made his debut for the senior national team in 2010. He played over 40 games for his country until 2022. He also represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at their first big tournament, the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Club Football Journey
Starting at Hamburger SV
Muhamed Bešić began playing football at local clubs. In 2009, he joined the youth academy of Hamburger SV. He signed his first professional contract with the team in November 2010. He played his first professional game on November 12, 2010, when he was 18 years old.
Playing for Ferencváros
In August 2012, Bešić moved to the Hungarian team Ferencváros. He signed a one-year contract. His first official game for the club was on September 14 against Haladás. On May 5, 2013, he scored his first goal as a professional player. This goal helped his team win against Paks.
In July, he extended his contract with Ferencváros until June 2016.
Time at Everton
In July 2014, Bešić moved to the English team Everton. He made his first game for Everton on August 30 against Chelsea.
In February 2016, he signed a new five-year contract with Everton.
In August 2016, he got a serious knee injury. Doctors said it was an anterior cruciate ligament tear. This meant he would be out of action for at least six months. He returned to playing on April 10, 2017, more than eight months after his injury.
In February 2018, he was loaned to Middlesbrough for the rest of that season. His loan was extended for another season in August.
In August 2019, he was loaned again for a season to Sheffield United.
Back to Ferencváros
In September 2021, Bešić went back to Ferencváros. He signed a three-year contract. On September 22, he played his first official game for the team since returning. This was against Fehérvár. He won his first trophy with the club on April 24, 2022, when they became league champions. On April 29, he scored his first goal for Ferencváros since coming back.
On November 13, Muhamed Bešić played his 100th match for Ferencváros. This game was against Honvéd.
In February 2023, he injured his anterior cruciate ligament again. He was expected to be out for at least six months. He returned to playing on September 16, more than seven months later. He even scored a goal in that game.
Later Career Stages
In January 2025, Bešić joined the Serbian team Spartak Subotica.
Playing for His Country

Muhamed Bešić was part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 team for several years.
In November 2010, he was called up to the senior national team for the first time. This was for a friendly game against Slovakia. He played his first game for the senior team on November 17.
In June 2014, Bešić was chosen to be in Bosnia and Herzegovina's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This was the country's first big football tournament. He played his first game in the tournament on June 15 against Argentina.

Muhamed Bešić has three children with his long-time girlfriend, Jessica. They have two daughters and one son.
He is a practicing Muslim. He visited a mosque in Zenica with some of his national teammates. These teammates included Ibrahim Šehić, Armin Hodžić, Izet Hajrović, Sead Kolašinac, Edin Višća, and Ervin Zukanović.
Bešić has many tattoos. His first tattoo was the word Bosanac, which means "Bosnian". He also has the names of his parents and brother tattooed on him.
