History of Mulberry
Mulberry was started around 1875. It began as a town where people worked in mines. The city got its name from a group of wild mulberry trees. These trees grew on a spot that was once used by Native Americans for camping and hunting. The town was later built in this same area.
The first post office in Mulberry opened in 1869. Until 1892, it was called Mulberry Grove.

Students in Mulberry attend schools in the Northeast USD 246 public school district. Mulberry High School used to exist, and its mascot was the Tigers. However, it closed when schools were combined into larger districts.

The Mulberry Advance is a weekly newspaper from Mulberry. It once became famous for having the smallest number of readers of any newspaper in Kansas. As of 2023, it had only 56 subscribers.
