Muldraugh is a small city in the state of Kentucky, United States. It is located in both Meade and Hardin counties. Muldraugh is special because it is completely surrounded by the Fort Knox army base.
In 2020, about 1,040 people lived in Muldraugh. The city is also part of the larger Elizabethtown–Fort Knox Metropolitan Area.

Exploring Muldraugh's Location
Muldraugh is found in the eastern part of Meade County. A small section of the city also reaches into Hardin County. Important roads like U.S. Route 31W and U.S. Route 60 run along its western edge.
These highways connect Muldraugh to other cities. For example, Louisville is about 27 miles north. Elizabethtown is about 18 miles south on US 31W. US 60 heads west towards Hardinsburg, which is about 34 miles away.
The Story Behind the Name
Muldraugh is located just south of a place called Muldraugh Hill. The road leading to the town from the north used to be very steep. Because of this, early travelers needed wagons pulled by mules to get there. This is how the town got its unique name: "mule-drawn" became "Muldraugh"!
The city covers a total area of about 0.52 square miles (1.35 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
