The Museum Building's History
The building where the museum is today has a long history. It was first built in 1755. A wealthy merchant from Cadiz named Alonso Ortega y Muñiz had it constructed. For a long time, it was a private home. Later, starting in 1949, it became a clinic. This clinic was known as the Clinic Empresa Nacional Bazán or Palomo Clinic. The city of San Fernando later bought the building. It was officially opened as the Municipal Historical Museum on March 28, 1986.
What You Can See Inside
The museum has six main rooms for its exhibits. These rooms are set up in a special way. They show items in order from the oldest to the newest.
