Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba (born on January 7, 1975) is an important Tanzanian leader. He is an economist and a CCM politician. Since 2010, he has been the elected Member of Parliament for the Iramba West area. On November 13, 2025, President Samia Suluhu Hassan appointed him as the Prime Minister of Tanzania. Before this, he served as the Minister of Finance in Tanzania's government from March 2021 until November 3, 2025.

Early Life and Education in Tanzania
Mwigulu Nchemba was born on January 7, 1975. His birthplace was Iramba District in the Singida Region of Tanzania. He started his schooling at Makunda Primary School. Later, he went to Ilboru Secondary School for his middle school years. He finished his advanced high school studies at Mazengo Secondary School in 2000.
In 2001, he began studying at the University of Dar es Salaam. He earned a Bachelor of Economics degree in 2004. He continued his studies there, getting a Master of Economics degree in 2006. Later, he also earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics from the same university. This shows his strong dedication to learning about how economies work.
A Career in Public Service and Finance
Before he became a politician, Mwigulu Nchemba worked as an economist. He was part of the Bank of Tanzania, which is the country's central bank. This experience gave him a deep understanding of financial matters.
Later, President Jakaya Kikwete recognized his skills. He appointed Mr. Nchemba as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. In this role, he helped manage Tanzania's money and plan for its economic future.

Mr. Nchemba has held several important positions in the Tanzanian government. In December 2015, President John Magufuli appointed him. He became the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. In this role, he worked on improving farming and animal care in the country.
He was later appointed as the Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs. This job involved working with the country's laws and constitution.
On March 31, 2021, there was a change in the government. Philip Mpango became the Vice-President of Tanzania. At this time, Mr. Nchemba took over as the Minister of Finance and Planning. He continued to guide the country's financial decisions. On July 4, 2023, he kept his role as Minister of Finance. However, the planning part of the ministry moved to the president's office.
