The Summertime Shorts are a fun collection of animated mini-episodes. They are part of the My Little Pony: Equestria Girls series. This series is a spin-off from the popular My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. In Equestria Girls, the characters are human-like. These shorts were released in 2017. Two different animation studios made these short videos. One studio, Boulder Media, is in Ireland. The other, DHX Media, is in Canada. Discovery Family showed both series together as Summertime Shorts.

Canterlot Shorts
These shorts are called Canterlot Shorts by Hasbro. They were all written by Gillian M. Berrow. She also wrote many My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic novels. Boulder Media, an animation studio in Ireland, produced these shorts.

In the United States, these shorts were shown on Discovery Family. This channel is a partnership between Discovery Communications and Hasbro. The shorts were part of Discovery Family's "Summer Splash" event. They were known as Summertime Shorts. Hasbro also released each short online. They put them on their official YouTube channel every Friday. This started on August 11, 2017. The last short was released on November 10.
