Mystic Lake (Stillwater County, Montana) facts for kids

Mystic Lake is a beautiful lake located in the Beartooth Mountains. It's the second deepest lake in this mountain range, right after Deep Lake. Mystic Lake is also famous for having the biggest sandy beach in the huge Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness area.

A company called the Montana Power Company uses the water from Mystic Lake. They have built a dam to help make electricity. This large lake is also a great place for fishing, especially for rainbow trout. If you enjoy hiking, there's a three-mile trail that leads up to Mystic Lake. Along the way, you'll get amazing views of the West Rosebud Valley and other nearby lakes.

Weather at Mystic Lake

Mystic Lake has a type of weather called a humid continental climate. This means it has warm summers with cool nights. The winters are very cold and get a lot of snow. In fact, Mystic Lake is one of the snowiest places in Montana, second only to Cooke City. Heavy snowfall can happen for most of the year here.
