Múte Inequnaaluk Bourup Egede (born 11 March 1987) is a politician from Greenland. He served as the 7th Prime Minister of Greenland from 2021 to 2025. He has also been the leader of the Inuit Ataqatigiit political party since December 2018. Since May 2015, he has been a member of the Inatsisartut, which is Greenland's parliament.

About Múte Egede's Early Life
Múte Inequnaaluk Bourup Egede was born in Nuuk, Greenland, on 11 March 1987. He grew up in a town called Narsaq. He went to school in Qaqortoq. In 2007, he started studying history and culture at the University of Greenland.
From 2011 to 2012, he was the vice chairman of a student group for academics in Greenland. He decided to leave his studies in 2013. He then took over his family's business, which was a company that made animal feed.
Múte Egede's Political Career
Múte Egede started his political journey early. In 2007, he was part of Greenland's youth parliament, called the Inuusuttut Inatsisartui. From 2013 to 2015, he led the Inuusuttut Ataqatigiit. This was the youth group of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party.
Running for Danish Parliament
In 2015, Egede ran for a seat in the Folketing. This is the parliament of Denmark. He was a candidate for the Inuit Ataqatigiit party. He received 2,131 votes, but it was not enough to win a seat.
Serving as a Minister
Between 2016 and 2018, Egede held an important job. He was the Minister for Raw Material and the Labour Market. For three months in 2017, he also temporarily served as the Minister of Communes, Hamlets, Outer Districts, Infrastructure and Housing.
Becoming Party Leader
On 1 December 2018, Múte Egede was chosen as the new leader of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party. He took over from Sara Olsvig. He then led the party into the 2021 Greenlandic general election. His party did very well, getting 36.6% of all the votes. This made them the biggest party in the parliament.
Egede himself received the most personal votes in that election. He got 3,380 votes. This was more than 1,500 votes more than the then-Prime Minister, Kim Kielsen.
Becoming Prime Minister
After the 2021 election, the Inuit Ataqatigiit party formed a team with another party called Naleraq. On 16 April, they announced they would form a government. Another party, Atassut, also supported them.
Múte Egede officially became the Prime Minister of Greenland on 23 April 2021. The Inatsisartut (Greenland's parliament) confirmed his position. He was the youngest Prime Minister in Greenland's history. He formed a new government in April 2022.
Egede has spoken about historical issues between Greenland and Denmark. He raised concerns about past events affecting Greenland.
In the 2025 Greenlandic general election, Egede received 3,276 personal votes. He lost to Jens-Frederik Nielsen, who received 4,850 votes.
Múte Egede's Political Beliefs
Múte Egede is the leader of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party. This party believes in democratic socialist ideas. He strongly supports Greenlandic independence. This means he believes Greenland should become a fully independent country.

Múte Egede is married to Sara Biilmann Egede. They have one child together. He also has two other children from a previous relationship.
