Nadir Larbaoui, born on September 26, 1949, is an important figure in Algeria. He is a politician, a lawyer, and a diplomat. Since November 2023, he has been serving as the Prime Minister of Algeria.
Early Life and Sports
Nadir Larbaoui was born in Tébessa, Algeria, on September 26, 1949. At that time, Algeria was under French rule.
When he was younger, he was a talented athlete. He played handball for Algeria's national team! He even won the Algerian Handball Cup three times. These wins were in the 1971–1972, 1972–1973, and 1975–1976 seasons. He also played in the World Handball Championship in 1974. Later, he participated in the African Handball Championship in 1976.
Education and Diplomacy
After his sports career, Nadir Larbaoui went to the University of Algiers. He studied law there. He earned a bachelor's degree in law. He also got a master's degree in international law. This made him a qualified lawyer.
He then started working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He held several important roles there. He was the Director of Legal and Consular Affairs. He also directed the International Economic Relations Division. Later, he led the Arab Maghreb Division.
Larbaoui became a career diplomat. This means he represented Algeria in other countries. He served as an ambassador to many places. These included the United Nations, Pakistan, the Arab League, the Arab Maghreb Union, and Egypt.
Political Career
In March 2023, Nadir Larbaoui became the chief of staff for the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. This is a very important role. The chief of staff helps the president with many daily tasks.
On November 11, 2023, President Tebboune appointed Larbaoui as the Prime Minister. He took over from Aymen Benabderrahmane. This change happened about a year before the presidential election in December 2024. Many people thought this showed President Tebboune wanted to make decisions more centrally.

Nadir Larbaoui is married. He has two children.
