Nadir Çiftçi (born 12 February 1992) is a professional footballer from Turkey. He plays as a forward for TFF Second League club Karaman FK. Nadir has played for many different clubs throughout his career. These include Portsmouth, Dundee United, and Celtic.
He first played for the Netherlands under-17 team. Later, he decided to play for the country where he was born, Turkey. He then joined the under-19 team.

Club Journey
Starting at Portsmouth
Nadir Çiftçi joined Portsmouth in 2007 when he was just 15 years old. He came from the Dutch team ADO Den Haag. He signed his first professional contract in June 2010.
He made his first team debut on 7 August 2010. This was in a game against Coventry City. A few days later, he scored his first goal for Portsmouth. This happened in a League Cup match against Stevenage. His goal helped Portsmouth win 2–1. He scored again in the next home game against Reading. He finished the season with two goals in 22 games.
Moving to Turkey and Netherlands
In May 2011, Çiftçi left Portsmouth and signed with the Turkish club Kayserispor. He played 11 games for them. In June 2012, he left Kayserispor.
After that, Çiftçi joined NAC Breda in the Netherlands in August 2012. He signed a three-year contract with them. He played for one season before leaving the club.
Time at Dundee United
On 2 July 2013, Çiftçi went to trial with Scottish Premiership club Dundee United. He joined them on a two-year contract on 25 July. He scored a great goal in a friendly match against Wigan Athletic. He called it his "best goal ever."
He scored his first official goals for Dundee United on 28 August 2013. He scored two goals in a League Cup game against Dumbarton. He continued to score regularly in the league. He scored against Ross County and Motherwell. He also scored a fantastic volley against Kilmarnock.
During his time at Dundee United, Çiftçi sometimes faced disciplinary issues. He received red cards in some games. He also faced suspensions for his behavior on the field. Despite this, he was a key player. He scored 11 league goals in his first season. He also helped Dundee United reach the Scottish Cup final in 2014. They lost the final to St Johnstone.
In his second season, he continued to score important goals. He scored against Ross County and Hamilton Accies. He also played a big part in a 2–1 win over Celtic. He finished the season as the club's top scorer with 16 goals.
Joining Celtic
Celtic signed Çiftçi on 9 July 2015. He signed a four-year contract with the club. He chose to wear the number 7 jersey. He made his debut the day after signing in a friendly game.
Çiftçi played in Celtic's early Champions League qualifier games. He scored his first goal for Celtic on 20 September 2015. This was in a 6–0 win against Dundee. He also helped set up another goal in that game. On 13 December 2015, he scored two goals in a 3–0 win against St Johnstone.
Loan Spells
In February 2016, Çiftçi went on loan to Turkish club Eskişehirspor. He wanted to play more regularly. He scored his first goal for them on 13 March.
In February 2017, he moved on loan to Polish club Pogoń Szczecin. He played eight games but did not score any goals. He then joined Plymouth Argyle on loan in August 2017. He made eight appearances but again did not score.
In January 2018, Çiftçi joined Motherwell on loan. He made his debut on 20 January 2018. He scored his first goal for Motherwell on 3 February in a 1–1 draw. At the end of the 2017–18 season, he left Celtic.
Later Career Clubs
Çiftçi joined Gençlerbirliği in August 2018. He helped his new club start the season strongly. They won their first nine league games, and Çiftçi scored four goals.
He then signed with Çaykur Rizespor in August 2020. After a short time there, he moved to Samsunspor in the TFF First League. In September 2021, Çiftçi signed with MKE Ankaragücü. He was released in January 2022.
On 5 January 2022, Çiftçi returned to Scotland. He signed with Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone until the end of the season. Since then, he has played for Makedonikos, İskenderunspor, and Karaman FK. He joined İnegölspor in 2024.
Playing for His Country
Nadir Çiftçi played for the Netherlands when he was younger. However, he later chose to play for Turkey. In November 2010, the Turkish national team coach met with Çiftçi. He wanted Nadir to play for Turkey.
On 8 March 2011, Çiftçi made his debut for Turkey's under-19 team. This was in a match against Montenegro. Two days later, he scored his first goal for the under-19 team, also against Montenegro.
