Mehmet Naim Talu (born July 22, 1919 – died May 15, 1998) was an important Turkish economist, banker, and politician. He is best known for serving as the 15th Prime Minister of Turkey. He also held roles as a government minister and the head of Turkey's Central Bank.

Early Life and Education
Naim Talu was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1919. He went to a school called Kabataş Erkek Lisesi. After that, he studied economics at Istanbul University and graduated in 1943.
Career in Banking
After finishing university, Naim Talu first worked at Sümerbank. This was a state-owned company that made textiles. In 1946, he moved to the Central Bank of Turkey. This bank is very important because it manages the country's money and economy.
He worked his way up at the Central Bank. In 1967, he became the general director. Later, in 1970, he was appointed the Governor of the Central Bank. He held this important position until 1971.
Political Career Highlights
Naim Talu started his political journey in 1971. He was appointed as the Minister of Trade in the government led by Nihat Erim. He continued in this role in the next government, led by Ferit Melen.
Becoming Prime Minister
In 1972, President Cevdet Sunay appointed Naim Talu to the Senate. The Senate was a part of the Turkish parliament.
On April 15, 1973, Prime Minister Ferit Melen resigned. President Fahri Korutürk then asked Naim Talu to form a new government. Naim Talu became the 15th Prime Minister of Turkey. His government was a "caretaker" government. This means it was a temporary government. It stayed in power until new elections could be held and a new government formed.
End of Prime Ministry
General elections were held in 1973. However, no single political party won enough votes to form a strong government on its own. This led to a period where different parties had to work together.
On January 26, 1974, a new government was formed. It was a coalition government led by Bülent Ecevit. With this, Naim Talu's time as Prime Minister came to an end. He continued to be a member of the Senate until 1976.
Later Life and Legacy
After his time as Prime Minister, Naim Talu joined the board of Akbank. This is one of Turkey's largest banks. He was a board member from 1974 to 1976. He then became the chairman of Akbank, a position he held until shortly before his death.
He also served on the board of trustees for the Sabancı Foundation VakSA during the same period. Naim Talu passed away in Istanbul in 1998. He was survived by his wife, Gevher Talu, and their two daughters, Tülin Talu and Füsun San.
